The Singapore economy was riding high in the early nineties. Businesses were booming and everyone was busy chasing the Singapore dream. More women entered the workforce to ensure that their families enjoy a higher standard of living. With this growing affluence, people saw more reasons to celebrate their successes big and small. But with their busy lifestyles, the hassle-free option of celebrating at a restaurant or leaving it to a caterer became the preferred choice.
Having a penchant for good food and entertaining himself, Mr Neo Kah Kiat knew exactly what people wanted and needed at that time. It was just a matter of deciding between a restaurant and a catering business.
It was not a tough decision to make as he noticed that, compared to restaurants, there was a stark lacking in good quality caterers in Singapore then. In fact people had a notion that caterers were a poor cousin to restaurants. Mr Neo was determined to change this perception and so he founded Neo Garden Catering Services with a strong conviction that it will be as good, if not better, than any restaurant.
